Minneapolis City Council Members Endorse Ralph Remington

Council Members Lisa Goodman (Community Development Committee chair), Don Samuels, Gary Schiff (Zoning and Planning Committee chair) and Paul Zerby have endorsed Ralph Remington! They join Council Member Natalie Johnson Lee (Health and Human Services Committee chair) who endorsed Remington previously in the campaign. (updated 10/25/05)

 

Somali Business Association of America Endorses Ralph Remington

The SBAA has endorsed Ralph for "for his tireless efforts in Ward 10 and for the support of Small Business as well as Minority Communities."

 

Minneapolis Professional Employees Association (MPEA) Endorses Ralph Remington

 

Minneapolis Municipal Retirement Association (MMRA) Endorses Ralph Remington

Police Officers Federation of Minneapolis Endorses Ralph Remington

Since 1972, the Police Officers Federation of Minneapolis has represented police officers up to the rank of captain who are employed by the City of Minneapolis and the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board. Currently the Federation has more than 900 members and is the largest non-affiliated law enforcement union in the state of Minnesota. (10/14/05)

AFSCME MN Council 5 Endorses Ralph Remington

Jim Niland, AFSCME Legislative Political Action Director and Former Minneapolis City Council Member says “Ralph Remington will be a strong progressive advocate on the Council for funding the public services our neighborhoods need, and for a strong city living wage policy.  I am proud to support him.”  

AFSCME MN Council 5 represents more than 50,000 public employees and health care workers regionally, and more than 1.4 million members nationally. AFSCME organizes for social and economic justice in the workplace and through political action and legislative advocacy. AFSCME represents a diverse group of service and health care workers in the public and private sectors including nurses, EMTs, bus drivers, childcare workers, custodians and librarians. Congratulations on another successful National Night Out in Minneapolis Ward 10! There were 48 scheduled events in Ward 10, and Ralph was able to make it to 19 of them in the Wedge, CARAG, Lyndale, East Harriet, ECCO and East Isles neighborhoods. More pictures from National Night Out.

National Night Out is an annual event that builds community, generates support for anti-crime programs and strengthens police/community relations through hundreds of block parties and other events held on the first Tuesday of August.

 

UAW Endorses Ralph Remington

The International Union, United Automobile, Aerospace and Agricultural Implement Workers of America (UAW, Minnesota State CAP Council) has endorsed Ralph Remington because he shares in their commitment to improve the lives of working men and women. The UAW has been a leader in the struggle to secure economic and social justice for all people. Minnesota ACORN Endorses Ralph Remington

ACORN, has endorsed Ralph because of his experience and commitment to improving housing conditions for the economically disadvantaged, increasing community safety, secure living wages for all workers and improving the quality of local schools. ACORN, the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now, is the nation's largest community organization of low- and moderate-income families, working together for social justice and stronger communities. ACORN's accomplishments include successful campaigns for better housing, schools, neighborhood safety, health care, job conditions, and more. (08/02/05)

UNITE HERE Local 17 and the State Council of UNITE HERE Unions Endorses Ralph Remington!

UNITE HERE has endorsed Ralph because he shares in their belief that workers and their families lead better lives when they are able to collectively bargain in the workplace and can better become an active part of the community and its fabric. UNITE HERE Local 17 represents 5,000 workers in the hospitality industry, the MSP Airport, sporting venues and in commercial laundries across the Twin Cities. Nationally UNITE HERE has 450,000 members.

 

SEIUSEIU Endorses Ralph Remington

Ralph received the SEIU endorsement because they know he will work hard to improve the lives of working people and their families. SEIU is Minnesota’s fifth largest labor union with 27,000 members statewide. SEIU is the largest AFL-CIO International Union in the United States with 1.8 million members.

 

Minneapolis Central Labor Union Council, AFL-CIOMinneapolis Central Labor Union Council (CLUC), AFL-CIO COPE Endorses Ralph Remington

Ralph received the CLUC / AFL-CIO COPE endorsement because they believe he is the candidate that will best be able to push forward a progressive agenda that safeguards workers' rights, build good jobs and strong communities. The Minneapolis Central Labor Union Council (CLUC) is made up of 125 affiliated unions and represents about 77,000 union workers in Minneapolis and the west metro.

Thank you Remington supporters who braved the cold and sleet, waiting for more than two hours to march in the Heart of the Beast's annual MayDay Parade with Ralph! The sun made a brief appearance, but the energy of the marchers and crowd was what really brightened the day.

Ralph received 45% of the votes at the Ward 10 Endorsement Convention on April 16, 2005. In a field of five candidates, Ralph led on all five ballots! Though there was no endorsement, this is a HUGE victory for all of us! Your support and enthusiasm carried the day. Thank you to all the volunteers who helped at the convention, and to all the new supporters who signed up on convention day.
